Violet Ultra Travel Limited was established in 2007 to offer bespoke scuba diving adventures to the UK market. Launched at Dive 2007, the company draws together the expertise and experience of Rohan and James Pike.
About the Founders
Rohan has extensive knowledge of working in the diving industry. She has spent over 4 years working as both a Dive Guide and Instructor across a range of the top luxury liveaboards operating in the Red Sea. Since returning to the UK, she has worked as Sales Manager for a specialist diving tour operator based in Plymouth. Previously, Rohan was Business Manger and Company Director of the award-winning mail order company, Russ Andrews Accessories.
James accumulated a wealth of experience in planning, coordinating and supervising scuba diving expeditions whilst working as a member of the permanent staff at Birmingham University Officer Training Corps (BUOTC). Successful completion of the Sub Aqua Diving Supervisors (SADS) course has led to participation and instruction as a diving supervisor on 35 military diving expeditions. Over the last few years he combined this with his daytime job as UK Operations Manager and Company Secretary for a specialist diving tour operator based in Plymouth.
Getting it Together
Setting up a company together, as James explains, was the logical next move:
“Having met over a crowded arrivals hall at Hurghada airport in Egypt in summer 2005, and with such natural chemistry together, it was the obvious progression to launch our own company offering bespoke scuba diving adventures. By combining our skills, knowledge and expertise, we are able to offer an unparalleled service, ensuring your holiday is everything you hoped and dreamed it might be!”
Rohan continues, "We chose the name 'Violet Ultra Travel' in honor of my inspiring Great-grandmother, Violet Andrews, an enterprising lady who established a series of successful businesses in Northampton from 1914. Here she is with her husband, Alfred, and an interesting newspaper article about her life.
